THE ULTIMATE SOUND FOR A MAJOR MOOD

Listening to Sir Victor Uwaifo's Bobozi is like opening a can of sparkling water. Bubbly and refreshing, it pops and ahs, entering the body and raising the spirit, it is elevation music. With its steady pulse of effervescent “yeahs,” Bobozi encourages as it excites, its breathy calls to action motivates us to "get up, stand up, move on," with full raver energy.

A perfect blend of hype and instruction, Bobozi carries the lightness of simplicity and the thrill of unapologetic truth telling (think Marley meets Kuti, but a lot more celebratory). Its pithy tenets with their "easy come, easy go" attitude, give an unburdened air to its "garbage in, garbage out" appeal for disciplined living. Its perky advocacy and expansive personality make Bobozi the ultimate soundtrack for a year dedicated to working and living with big energy.

Discovering Bobozi was a much needed boost after a series of deflating setbacks. Dancing with the song on repeat, and feeling like I could finally breathe again, I resolved to take on the double entendre of having a 2020 vision and build a year of strong significance. Inspired by the characteristics of the twos, sevens and nines that defined my age and energized by the process of clearing out all the notes, screenshots and ideas I had collected over the years, the site was born as visual reminder to stay juicy, to live fully and to work with the wisdom that "love is good, love is life, love is stronger than atomic energy."

OMONI MECUM MIA PORTO

OMMP, latin for 'all that is mine I carry with me,' and its "I bring my fullest self wherever I go" attitude, is a big wink, big bite, big signature energy. Doing only what only it can do, it is a simplicity that breeds excellence, a boundary that nurtures preciousness, and a care that seeks environments that can hold and reflect its bounciest and brightest self.

Understanding OMMP reinforced my nomadic vision for my lifeInspired by professors that spend their semesters in Brooklyn and summers in Berlin, I've been questioning what it would look like to push the concept further, to move with the seasons, to experience the best of each cultural climate, to adapt learnings from one identity to optimize the others, to strengthen my sense of possibility, and develop a global understanding of quality living.

OMMP is the purity of non-attachment, the romance of savoring the impermanent, the vulnerability of loving deeply, the discipline of leaving easily, and the wisdom of knowing true belonging. OMMP is the lightness of only engaging with quality, a desire that drove my year of subtraction where I left everything to get myself to a place where the only voice in my head was my own, where I could work on being rather than seeming, where I could un-learn and un-brand and de-reference myself back to my most innocent curiosities, where I am solely concerned with that which I would love to nurture forever.

AQUATIC-NOMADIC

Michel Brosseau's painting of a ship set amongst clear skies with its loosely rolled sails ready to unfurl, and the De Stijl sculpture of a snail with its head titled upwards and its body curved in an open gesture, are two artworks that hold a utopian optimism in their shapes. Representing the potential energy before the journey, and hinting at the desire that drives the departure, both works align with the icon of the snail as a nomad, packed and ready, moving towards an ideal

Monclear's bag with its puffy straps undulating across the body like a wrapped sail, and Renato Cipullo's sapphire cuffs' with its curvilinear marks swirling upward like ocean waves, are two accessories that carry stylized abstractions within their streamlined functions. Toting essentials with voluminous personality and securing dress shirts with elevated quality, both styles highlight the signature of the snail, working at its own pace with its valuables placed on its person.

Cole and Son's wallpaper with its sprawling foliage, and Albertus Seba’s catalog's with its vibrant illustrations, are two motifs that bring the wonders of the natural world into the intimacy of personal spaces. Showcasing natural motifs and inspiring intellectual study, both illustrations reflect the transformational power of the snail's return home with new learnings, understandings, and findings to meditate on, organize, and unpack.
